Each week during the college football season, we'll come here to react to the new TRAM Top 25. TRAM, like most models and systems, gets better and more accurate as the season progresses.

After not qualifying for the initial rankings, James Madison makes its TRAM Top 25 debut at #8. Joining them is their Sun Belt foe, the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers, at #17. No other Group of 5 team appears in the TRAM Top 25 this week. The AAC touts themselves as a "Power 6" school, and while that's arguably true most years (see Cincinnati's playoff appearance last season), the Sun Belt is looking to take that title away from them.
5 Head Coaches have been let go this season already: Scott Frost at Nebraska, Herm Edwards at Arizona State, Geoff Collins at Georgia Tech, Karl Dorrell at Colorado, and Paul Chryst at Wisconsin. All 5 schools are sitting at #96 or lower in this week's TRAM standings. All 5 are in the midst of their worst season (according to TRAM) since at least 1998. Other schools in the midst of their worst season include Stanford, Virginia Tech, Hawaii, and Miami (FL). Some schools, such as Texas A&M, are also having their worst season in over a decade. Perhaps more head coaching changes are on the horizon.
In a shocking twist that nobody could have expected, the top 4 of this week's TRAM Top 25 is, in order: Alabama, Ohio State, Clemson, and Georgia. I'm kidding, everyone expected that. These 4 teams have won 7 of 8 National Championships in the CFP era, and have combined for 19 of 32 appearances in the Playoff. While other teams come and go in the rankings, it's business as usual at the top.
