Each week during the college football season, we'll come here to react to the new TRAM Top 25. TRAM, like most models and systems, gets better and more accurate as the season progresses. That said, we're not quite a third of the way through the season, and these are the initial TRAM ratings, so take them with a grain of salt. With that, let's react.

Kansas debuted at #2 (#3 if you include James Madison, who hasn't played enough FBS opponents to qualify) in the TRAM Top 25. Since 2007 (the last year they finished in the top 25), the Jayhawks have averaged to finish #107 in the FBS. Last season, they finished #123. If Lance Leipold and company are able to finish the season in the top 10, they will complete the largest single-season jump ever!
Debuting at #7 and #9 in the Top 25 are 90's powerhouses Florida State and Tennessee, respectively. From 1998-2001, these 2 teams averaged to finish #5 (Florida State) and #7 (Tennessee). Since that time, they have an average finish of #33 and #46, respectively. While both are enjoying a renaissance of sorts to start the season, the feelings around these 2 programs are very different.
We already covered Kansas' debut at #2, but they aren't the only basketball blue blood to make a splash in the Top 25 this week. Kentucky and UCLA joined their counterpart in the top 15, at #11 and #12. Basketball blue bloods, meaning Duke, Indiana, North Carolina, Kansas, Kentucky, and UCLA, have only finished in the top 15 3 times ever: UCLA at #10 in 2014 and #7 in 1998 and Kansas at #6 in 2007. Might this be the year we add another team to that list?
